Art Syllabus

Hello All! My name is Ms. Day and I love everything Art! I’m Colorado born and raised and have lived everywhere in Colorado from Fort Collins to La Veta. I have my Bachelor’s in Fine Art and an Alternative Teaching Degree from CSU Pueblo. I own a Pottery Studio in Pueblo where I teach hand-building, wheel throwing, decorating, glazing, and firing to all ages.

In my free time I love participating in craft shows, throwing on the wheel, hanging out with my dog, playing video games with my six-year-old, and listening to music. I love teaching and watching imagination and creativity grow and blossom. As a teacher I strive to create an inclusive, free-flowing environment where all students have the chance to express themselves and grow as young adults and artists.

Theater

Our theater program focuses on creativity and the skills to develop stories and concepts. For our K-5th students, they will begin with puppets by learning storylines and creating scenes. They will be working in conjunction with Ms. Day's Art Class for puppet creation and scenery/stage production. Our junior high/high school students will be breaking down scripts and monologues as well as duo work (scenes) with their classmates. Students will also be working on projection (vocal), character creation within an actor, and stage mechanics.

Music

Homeschoolers will learn from a variety of musical educational opportunities. They will gain a deep understanding of music theory, famous composers, and explore a variety of genres spanning from classic to contemporary. They will also enjoy hands-on experiences including reading music, improvising melodies, performing with instruments, and working on tonality, rhythm, and pitch.
